Q&A
Q: You made your stage debut on June 7th, how do you feel about it?
Moon Geun Young: Until now, there have been two stagings already, I still can't evaluate my own performance though. As it was my stage debut, I was so nervous, and even scared when coming on the stage. I thought: have I ever acted with such a sense of responsibility since the beginning of my acting career? Now it's too early to make an appraisal of the play. In order to give the audience an emotionally satisfying experience, I will work hard and hone my skills until the end. That's all for now.
Q: Since both Shin Da-eun and Moon Geun Young always had the image of a nice girl in their roles, are there any difficulties in taking on the role of strip dancer Alice?
Shin Da-eun: In my acting career I've been used to play girly roles, which didn't fit well into my own character actually. I find it interesting probably because the person Alice herself is a very attractive role.
Moon Geun Young: I think so. Alice does not want to seduce anybody, in fact she is a very attractive or even seductive person, which makes people feel as if she would intent to do so. Even though it puts me under pressure and makes me worry, I still consider it as an interesting experience.
Q: It must be burdensome for you to play opposite those two great actresses on the stage. So which one do you think is the better Alice?
Eom Ki-joon: Of course, I feel pressured. It may cause me boos from the crowd. (Laughter) I'd rather give up my right of choice, if I had to choose one.

Q: As one of a series of “stage’s great”, please tell us something about the distinctive features of the theatre "Closer".
Director Jo: We try to remain true to the spirit of the original: both the dramatic narrative and the emotional impact in our production. So the names of characters and places are not changed. According to the aesthetic theory of the "beauty of blank space", the stage kept fairly empty and is divided into four parts, such as lighting, scenery etc. We want it to be an accurate adaptation of the original play, as much as possible.
Q: Acting as Alice, do you feel pressured?
Moon Geun Young: No, I didn't feel much pressure. I'm 24 years old now (laughs). As an adult female I know the things a woman should know. Although there are still some personal areas that need improvement, I will identify them and keep working on myself
Q: What particularly attracts you to the play?
Moon Geun Young: Although it might sound irresponsible, I'd like to say it seems to be quite attractive to me, and it's a play moreover. I always had wanted to act a stage play, and then I came across it. And the filmization of "Closer" is very interesting too. The play has been staged 40 times, so I wish I could also share laughter and tears with my audience together, even just once! My ambition is: when Closer's season ends, someone will be able to speak out: "no matter what they say, the one and only Alice are you." For these words I will exert myself to the end.
Q: It seems like we haven't heard you say: I was in love. What kind of love do you wish for?
Moon Geun Young: It is not like I haven't ever loved someone before, just that I haven't talked about it. (Laughter) Maybe I am still too young, so I wish for a love just like Alice's: ready to push the envelope for a sudden passion.
Q: You seem to get quite enthusiastic about acting, well, what makes Alice attractive?
Moon Geun Young: It's desire of every actor rather than special enthusiasm of just me. Maybe I am still too young, but I do want to have a sincere love just like Alice did. The love rules seem to be the charm of Alice.
Q: How is the audience response?
Director Jo: Tickets are already sold out, and it's really good to know. Meanwhile, we have already performed six times. Though it might sound pretentious, we have heard that the current "Closer" production is supposed to be the best sold ever. Me and the actors, we are all very happy about it.
You'll find a complicated love story among four people: selfish love,desperate love, and reasonable love. Meanwhile, "Closer" will be staged till 10th October at the Daehangno Art Theater.
